The Signal State is a puzzle game centered on modular synthesis and logic. Players are presented with various input signals and a partially functional rig of modules. The objective is to manipulate these modules, routing signals and applying logical operations, to achieve a specific output signal.

The game features over 40 distinct puzzles. Each puzzle requires players to understand the function of individual modules and how they interact when chained together. Modules include common logic gates (AND, OR, XOR), as well as more complex components like sequencers, oscillators, and signal manipulators. There are no predefined solutions; instead, players must experiment with module configurations to meet the target output.

A core mechanic involves connecting inputs to module ports and module outputs to subsequent module inputs, forming a signal flow. Debugging is achieved through visual feedback on the signal path, allowing players to identify where their current configuration deviates from the desired outcome. The game gradually introduces new module types and increasingly complex signal manipulation challenges, building on previously learned concepts. An in-game tutorial system introduces new mechanics as they become relevant.

The aesthetic is characterized by a minimalist interface, focusing on the visual representation of electrical signals and module states. The game primarily uses a top-down view of the modular rig. The Signal State is designed for players interested in logic puzzles, system design, and understanding the fundamentals of signal processing and Boolean logic within a game context.
